AUG, SEPT, OCT 2010
|
|
Long time did not update my fotopages. August was Ramadan, September was Makan Month. Since the last week of September - 2nd week of October I was abroad so I have no time for fotopages. On the other hand it was the trigger happy period for me shooting away.
Be patient, I will post pix from a 7 nation tour.

Sabah-KotaKinabalu Walkabout2:Jesselton Pt.
|
|
Just 12 days after my solo walkabout in KK, I did another walkabout also in KK. I started the walkabout at 6.15am, yes I repeat 6.15am. The sun rises at about 5.45 am in KK.
From Le Meridien I took a stroll along the coastal road towards Jesselton Point with my cam firmly in my backpack. I took extra precaution to ensure the safety of my 'baby'. Weather was a bit cloudy but I really hoped it would be brighter by 7am.
This was my first shot from the side of Suria Sabah Shopping mall, "The Jesselton Point", the jetty place to board boats to nearby islands as well as to Labuan :
FYI this is my second trip to KK in June ... 1st trip was for 6d/5n with my family. 6 days after my return to KL, I flew to KK again for 4d/3n courtesy of my employer. Even now if someone were to offer me a free holiday in M'sia, I would opt for Sabah.
I have lost count on the no. of times I hv been to Sabah, probably more than 30 times within the last 5 yrs.

Sabah-KotaKinabalu Walkabout1-Pasar Ikan Masin & Pasar Filipino
|
|
It is time for another family vacation, this time we are headed for KK & Kundasang... KK trip would not be complete w/o going to Kundasang.
Bought AA tickets (not zero fare)sometime last year at RM 150 ppax inclusive of taxes, luggage and food. Nowadays, even with zero fare it will cost us more than RM 150ppax.
The Philippines market & Jamie's Pearl Center is a must for my wife and kids. Thus I decided to go on a solo walkabout at KK Waterfront.
KK Waterfront is famous for its market - Philipines market, Dried fish market, Night market, Fruit market, Fish market etc.
So here at Sinsuran opp Dried Fish Market was where I started my solo walkabout.
For a full report and complete set of pix go to the forum where I have posted them :

"Macet" in Jakarta 2
|
|
We arrived in JKT on Thursday evening and left for KL on Sunday evening.
The firstl "macet" that we encountered was in the immigration hall itself. We were stuck for more than hour, the queue was not that long but what I observed was that the way they handled the crowd was abit disorganised. One Chinese guy who had queued just in front of me were questioned by the officer during his turn, why he had not queued. Poor guy, all the while he was queueing in front of me and suddenly the Indon officer (a lady actually) said he has jumped queue. For each visitor, it would take more than 5 mins. for the immigration to clear his passport.
Other than that ... on the road, we did not encounter serious "macet" as our timing was good, arriving in the evening when the traffic are actually going out of town and going back home on Sunday evening when most offices are closed.

"Macet" In Jakarta
|
|
Just back 2 days ago from a short 4 days holiday with my beloved wife.
Not many people want to go to Jakarta for holidays simply because of its re-knowned but dreadful "macet" or traffic jam. I have been avoiding Jakarta whenever it comes to decide on a holiday destination but as the airfare offered by AA is irresistable, I looked no further.
I lodged at Millennium Hotel Sirih just because it is near to the Tanah Abang, a top wholesale complex.
On the second day, the Supir brought us to a "small hotel" on our way back from Puncak. It is close to the Puncak Safari. It is called Hotel Seruni.
The entrance was very narrow, so I asked him what is it that is so special here.
He said "it has beautiful sceneries" but I just can't see what he means.
(a closer look at the hotel as we passed thro the packed car park)
After we passed the first building, this was what we saw ... a huge building at the back.
My Supir said this is the second phase, the rear view.
Unfortunately, the fountains were switched off.
Yup, true enuff ... a beautiful scenery opposite the rear second phase.
More surperise to come ....

Latest 5Star Hotel in Kuching 2
|
|
Recapped from 24th Feb entry "The room rates are comparable to the other 5-star hotels but I must say that its room are spacious and equipped with the latest state of art. However, I was dismayed since no bell boy was available throughout my stay. The breakfast, I will say is second to none. Broadband is available at RM50 per day.
I will be going to Kuching again in the second week of March. I will stay there again but the rates have been increased by RM20 and breakfast has been excluded . Actually, it would be good for my diet as I can't control myself if it was a buffet breakfast "
Today's entry - Just came back from Kuching yesterday. After complaining to the hotel, they offered me the same rate as my first stay and topped up with breakfast. This time I came prepared with my track suit and jogging shoes so that I don't have to take extra baggage home.
Here are the room pictures. The bed is very nice and equipped with 4 fluffy pillows and 2 cushions. There is also an extra pillow in the wadrobe.

JB - Danga Bay
|
|
Danga Bay, has been there for many many years, my playground during my teenage days. But come the new Millenium, Danga Bay was developed as what U see it today. A marina bay, shopping center etc has been in operation since early 2000.
Danga Bay is set to be a premier waterfront development and one of the highlights of the Iskandar Malaysia, offering amongst others, upscale properties, top-notch retail outlets, thrills and spills of leisure activities, an oasis for local and international food and beverage and top-draw events and activities. Danga Bay Integrated Waterfront City is one of the most exciting areas of development within Iskandar Malaysia.

Latest 5-star Hotel in Kuching
|
|
It has been over a month since my last entry. Since then I have been to Kuching for 3 nights but I did not bring my camera with me. The reason being that I wanted to travel light and has no intention of sight seeing. Thus for this entry, for the very first time no pictures will be published.
I lodged at Kuching's newest 5-star hotel said to be owned by an ex-Minister in the Fed. Government.
The room rates are comparable to the other 5-star hotels but I must say that its room are spacious and equipped with the latest state of art.
Actually, it would be good for my diet as I can't control myself if it was a buffet breakfast
This time around, I will bring along my 5DMkII. Cheers!!!
Till then .... Happy Holidays.

The Legend of Gunung Ledang
|
|
Guys, ever thought of climbing Gunung Ledang? This is my second trip up GL. The 1st trip was 27 years ago.
The sceneries on the way up are very beautiful. There is even a cave where people used to meditate (bertapa) in it. There is also a huge dam which is the main source of water for north Johor.
We have heard many tales or legends about Gunung Ledang, so better take some precautions before the trip.

Damn it!
